Scintillation Detectors
Scintillation detectors are essential tools in radiation detection, converting ionising radiation into measurable light pulses. When a gamma ray, X-ray or charged particle enters a scintillator crystal, it excites the material's lattice structure, producing a flash of light proportional to the energy deposited. This light is then collected by a photomultiplier tube, SiPM or photodiode and converted into an electrical signal for analysis.
